The Deceitful Wife
Pay heed to my words
And listen
Hearts can grow cold
I know
You play your games
And practice manipulation
Never realizing you
Are building a wall
Chase to and fro
Your pleasure
Do not think of
The one you claim to love
You stood in a church and
Said some vows but
Those were just words
You should know by now
Lying eyes are easy to see
And two can play
Your little game
When you dance
With the devil he
Sets the cost of the tune
One day you will realize
Your folly, realize how
Dearly you love the one
You pledged your life to
But when you reach out
You feel nothing but
Cold hard bricks
You have made your bed, my dear
Now you must lie in it
Alone
And listen
Hearts can grow cold
I know
You play your games
And practice manipulation
Never realizing you
Are building a wall
Chase to and fro
Your pleasure
Do not think of
The one you claim to love
You stood in a church and
Said some vows but
Those were just words
You should know by now
Lying eyes are easy to see
And two can play
Your little game
When you dance
With the devil he
Sets the cost of the tune
One day you will realize
Your folly, realize how
Dearly you love the one
You pledged your life to
But when you reach out
You feel nothing but
Cold hard bricks
You have made your bed, my dear
Now you must lie in it
Alone
