Look Me In the Eye (Mirror Mirror pt. I)

The scars upon his face told chapters
Perfect eyes told bloodshot lies
But through them truth escaped its captor.

A twisted grin escaped his lips
And his heart would pound without a sound
Through a throat dried and crisp.

He was mortified but never let it show
Despite their offering, of his suffering
They could never be allowed to know.

Drips of diamond tears and drops of ruby blood
Compromise impurities and all his insecurities
Come to surface in the mud.

And I know now that I can't do this to him
He's only ever tried, I can't even look him in the eye
Or touch his snow white skin.

It becomes so much clearer
That this fate--it can wait,
As I turn away from the mirror.
