before

before you
came
i found fault with everything
everything

married to melancholy and poe

before you
entered
my life and capsized this small heart

i pressed flowers, named them and
crushed them, sprinkling their essence

on unforgiving stairs
indifferent sidewalks
and cold subway seats

now you come
to me
filled with the night
exhaling stars into my once lonely mouth
sighing verses into blushing ears

i am awakened!

now that your fingers
have danced
inside my valley

i flutter through these days
*a poet dressed as a butterfly*
broken wings and all

my curtain swept open
I inhale your
love

* a poet dressed  as a butterfly...from the surreal poets.
