Old Church Whispers
Did you hear the faded chimes, for the brides of distant years,
did you see the creaking beams of oak and the spider’s souvenirs.
Threads of ancient wonder, woven through with age,
each filigree of history, a part of gods own stage.
And the children crying softly and the haunted souls who wept,
could you hear the past of ages and the secrets they have kept.
Did you feel the weight of memories, of lives all loved and lost,
Did you feel those decades fall away, as the years of time were crossed.
Could you sense the sweet vibration of a choir in simple song,
or feel a place so special, with a need to just belong.
Did you see the shadowed remnants of those congregations past,
or the mists of timeless wonder, where their futures have been cast.
