Check Yes Or No
I hurled myself
into its on-coming traffic.
I dove head first,
and wouldn't see past it.
I held on so tightly that my hands could crush diamonds in their grasp.
This wasn't the first time.
This won't be the last.
I gave myself to the stars
in hopes to be a light like they are.
Is this cause a hopeless loss?
Has the world forgot?
I hear and read that romance has died. It's a fools mission to give it any time. What happened to hand written love proclamations?
When did people start buying roses instead of picking carnations?
Second Graders passing notes,
"if you like me-
check yes,
if you don't-
check no."
If love is real, do the same, and tell me so.
Check yes, or no,
so that I can stop blaming the space between the stars, and stop searching for my missing parts.
I'm walking around screaming strangers' names in the dark.
Tell me of love's existence,
before its absence tares me apart.
