And the Pursuit of Happiness

I am, I am, I am, I am, I am, I am, I am, I am
truly happy
to hear that the sky flickered into a deeper shade of azure-cyan
for you,
and I am truly ecstatic that one reason for that change
was the company I gave you in my heart.

I don't know if my love is requited or not.
But as long as you're smiling and I am in front of your smile,
I can imagine.

Sunlight trickles down a window waking me up when I am trying to sleep.
Darkness taps at the pane, and I am forced to leave my home,
but for that place where you and I dance together across the floor for an eight dollar pay
for each hour of sweat.
And we wave at each other as if it is a secret that no one else knows.
But they all know
that the world fissured into a dozen parts that remain suspended around the two of us
on this love rock in outer space
where we comfort one another with romantic promises and innuendos hinting at some forever to come for us,
just for you
and me.
I am so happy that I am scared that the happiness will end
taking away that everything that I saw on the horizon,
leaving me with sunlight trickling down my window stirring me up and making me cry
because I would rather be trapped in the darkness
breathing heavily by your side.
So darling, let's snack on these frozen blueberries sprinkled with sugar grains while we are still warm,
burning so intimately with juvenile hopes.
