Secret Reading
She's sitting at a table as she reads
Some fiction or romance? Is it a letter?
A naughty correspondence sometimes seeds
Sweet thoughts to make her blush or, even better,
Ideas a dalliance might give some pleasure;
For which someone will reward her so well,
That she could read forever at her leisure;
And need not share the plot, for she can tell
No one her little secrets, as she'll find
That every little mystery excites
A further passion; and she is inclined
To keep this passion and all the delights
By gathering them up, as best she's able,
While reading at her leisure at a table.
