Motivation (or lack, thereof)

A lack of motivation
and crippling lack of wealth
Is draining all my self-esteem
and damaging my health

I need a little pick-me-up
to get me on my way
I think a swift kick in the ass
is what I need today

Got problems with authority
but sometimes need a boss
Unless someone is pushing me
I'll probably get lost

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the type
to follow someone's lead
I just get lost in what I want
and forget what I need

I lost my compass long ago
and need to make corrections
I need a strong, magnetic force
to show me the direction

It's not as simple as it sounds
it's not what you'd expect
You really have to prove yourself
before you earn respect

Confidence is key, here
intelligence a must
There's no way I would follow you
unless you earn my trust

Although no one's been up to it
the shoes are hard to fill
I think i may have found someone
who actually fits the bill
