The Leopard’s Scream

Well I awoke this morning to the sound
Of rain just a pouring down and the echo
Of THE LEOPARD'S SCREAM and I hung
My head in dread knowing today would be
The end of many innocent lives, a bloodbath
Few of us would survive the ambush of the
Creature that thrives on our suffering...
Even after all the tribal ceremonies of
Sacrifice, we still live in fear, peeking through
The gaping holes of my little straw hut
And trying to keep her in sight, one thought
Crosses my mind, Africa still belongs to the
Wild, heather day or night...
And as I lay on the cold wet ground, frightened
And scared, THE LEOPARD'S SCREAM kept
Echoing in my head like the pounding of ten
Thousand drums, you think about running but
You are as sure as dead if you run...
THE LEOPARD'S SCREAM is the most spines
Tingling thing to hear, even the birds fall from
The sky from parlayed wings and your heart
Stops dead cold with fear every time you hear
Every time you hear...
THE LEOPARD'S SCREAM!
