Sliver

It hung there in this morning’s sky,
The sliver of a fading moon.
Dancing naked before the eye,
To share with me her final boon.

Had to pause and appreciate
A beauty by tomorrow gone…
Ponder intricacies of fate—
The things to which we are so drawn.

The morning star barely a glim
Right there next to her majesty.
Amazing how all things seem dim
Compared the light she shines on me.

I’ve felt her tug, I’ve felt her pull…
The passions boiling up within.
I’ve waned with her, but knew her full,
And that, we’ll never share again.

Tomorrow darkness, nothing more.
This moment you are all I view.
My everything that I adore,
If you must go, take me with you.
