MARILYN MONROE (BASED ON 1953 PLAYBOY CENTREFOLD)

A picture of vivacity
And inviting tactility,
She who had lately graced the screen
Was now in glory to be seen.
She looked exultantly naked,
Against the drape of velvet red,
With eye catchingly blonded curls,
And neck worth gracing with some pearls.
Stretched back arm, closed eyes, seeming laugh,
As if had a reviving bath.
Her breasts, freed of the brassiere,
Invite admiring view, not stare.
Her stomach’s enviably flat,
Her frame bears no excessive fat.
Her legs curl up, together close
To add modesty to her pose.

No scar or tattoos there to mar
The untanned body of that star;
Pristine, goddess-like nakedness,
Other women might wish possess.
She was 27 years old
When Playboy mag’s first centrefold,
With one marriage in her past life,
Two future ventures as the wife
Of Di Maggio, then Miller.
Ten years on, sleep drugs would kill her.
The ‘Great American Body’
Personified a gaiety;
That gaiety hid private woes,
And some ascribe her death to foes
Of her closeness with Kennedys
(Cheating with her on their ladies).
