Everybody Lives in Alaska
Light is synonymous with knowledge.
For it is by light that we can see
- and to see is to know -
What is out there,
Lying in our path.
So ignorance, the opposite of knowledge,
Equals deep darkness, nightfall.
Each morning we get up,
It is bright outside.
But really it is opaque blackness.
"For we don't know what a day may bring"(James 4.14).
Yes, as far as knowledge of the future,
We are all in the dark!
Even in the middle of the day.
So high noon = midnight.
So, in a way, we all live up in Alaska,
Or even within the Arctic circle,
Where it is (sometimes)dark 24 hours a day.
Except, fortunately, it's not Arctic-cold,
Here in the vaginal-warmth of Virginia.
For it is by light that we can see
- and to see is to know -
What is out there,
Lying in our path.
So ignorance, the opposite of knowledge,
Equals deep darkness, nightfall.
Each morning we get up,
