Decipher

I should begin and say how it began
with emotions in a tangle
trying to unravel
decipher
it's true intent
on the interest shown
of how I closed my eyes
with love's first kiss

Not quite as it began
was already attached
matched
to another's heartbeat

And I should say
how bold was I
to dismiss such thoughts
those that should be kept
tucked away under the bed

But combinations of various
complications
timings
of events
led me
to his hand
reaching out
with those words
from the film
it's title I'd forgotten
whispering
"Come with me if you want to be taken"

I should have questioned
my sanity
my partner waiting at home
patiently
mentioned
but I did not
taking his hand
as if god himself were reaching out
