Your heart...

What do you do
with that heart so big
when people just use
and you always give?
When all you want
is your life to live
and you try to scream "no"
but you always forgive?
Until your very home
feels like a brig?
Your hopes of silent moments
shattered by fighting kids,
slamming doors, tracking mud across floors
like a sty full of squealing pigs?
your time sold out
to the highest bid?

Come use me if you want to,
I'll rub your shoulders and keep you hid,
I'll keep you safe, even if just for a while,
I offer the solace you're so often forbid.

Come lay next to me,
please accept this quaint rhyme
because your need for comfort
shouldn't feel like a crime,
let me whisper in your ears
calming words of red wine
and wrap my arms around you
like a blanket of vines,
Let's swim in the secrets
hidden behind our eyes,
two hearts sighing together
as our breathing aligns.

I hope this doesn't just sound
another demand on your precious time,
I long to be yours
and for you to be mine,
I want to give you the world
but for now please accept this shrine.
