Completely His
I am his completely
I am completely his
I think I always have been
Not because I believe in fairytales,
fate, or happy endings
But because of how I feel
When he is with me
I knew commitment
I can stick to what I have to,
but this is different
We are more
like pieces fitting in
He has more than words,
a promise of my presence
I love him
Not by duty or obligation
But by what it is
Who he is
And who he makes me
My body has been touched before
But my soul remained unscathed
It was waiting
For him
Only he knows
What it is to be inside me
All I knew of love-making
Meeting expectations
Without connection
A basic right of passage for a woman--
Make a man happy
Suffice his appetite
of physical needs
Valued by my deeds
But I was empty
He knows more than just my skin
His hands hold more than flesh
The shell outside myself
He reaches into places no one's been
He has my heart
I opened up and he poured in
I am completely his
I think I always have been
Not because I believe in fairytales,
fate, or happy endings
But because of how I feel
When he is with me
I knew commitment
