.:Facedown in Texas:.
If this was...let’s say
1815 or 1915 or even 2015
As it is... a different time
Yet in the same place all over again
What would you do? What would you have done?
When you found out one more time that nothing changed
Case in point, “Look here, we want y’all out the pool
For you there ain’t nothing happening here”
Now tell us? Would you have shed a tear?
As impatience grows; relentlessly sprouting
Would you at your last wits end begin to have fits of shouting?
Welled up anger & fear with knees perfectly placed
Again, getting placed into the back of the damn near naked
No, raw stupidity isn’t about to fake it...but then again
14 years old acting bold with a lot of sass
While the morality of fiends...
Places her face into the grass
Political Rights?
Pushed down, facedown
Right into the ground by a so-called officer of the law
Where early retirement is expedited as a last call
Right there, down in McKinney, Texas
People look on as the Blue Line flexes
Case in point, “Look officer, they the fool
We need you to make that clear... For their kind...
There ain’t nothing happening here...
So go on on now, give ‘em something to fear”
America, home of the brave
The paranoid, the enslaved
Some say this and every other infraction
Again, just another justified reaction
But no, it ain’t cool at all
Ominous, this continuing downfall
And this doesn’t happen only in Texas
See, these are the times absent of Malcolm X’s
A view some say needed from sea to shining sea
See, what’s seen is the indignation of
Too many “real-time” assaults
Too many years with uncorrected faults
But nonetheless still getting a lot of help
Help in receiving & giving much hell along the way
See, these are the historical facts getting repeated everyday
But in 2115...who’ll be in the “pool” to say?
