Happiness and Serenity

The devil, with all his vain schemes,
has been attempting to steal my happiness from me.
But I not going to sit and take it, won't sit by and
watch him mess up my serenity.

With all my might I find that I can rise,
and I will spit in his face and declare
that I am no longer trapped beneath his thumb
there's nothing that has gone wrong
that can't be fixed with every care
that I've been blessed with, been given.

I find that, day by day, that I can fly.
With wings of happiness and serenity
and beating him is easier than 1, 2, 3.
His ways are increasingly easier to defend against
because of their never-ending circularity
and the sensitivity of my personality won't keep
me from preventing his irredeemable fallibility.

So day by day I reach for Daddy's hands to guide me.
My Father's hands given an earthly tinge-
my love in this world who says he'll walk with me through land and sea.
He reminds me that beating the devil is so very easy.

I've taken back my body,
And I will reclaim my mind for me,
and the road, no doubt, will be ever rocky
yet, with each passing sunrise I find
That I was always supposed to have and enjoy
Happiness and Serenity.
