Dueling Scowls
Breathe in slow and deep,
Push on the gas pedal
Aaaand... release.
Press on the brake,
Ease yourself to a stop
And look at the grimaces people make.
I see your face
In the rear view mirror,
I see the dark sighs
Swelling behind your squinted eyes
Turning into poison
In the back of your mind.
I'm sorry I stopped you from getting through
The lighted intersection in front of us
But I was stuck behind two cars
And a public transportation bus,
I really didn't mean to cause a fuss
Or keep you from driving that half a block.
We all want to blame
All the problems in the world
On the driver of the car in front of you
During a traffic jam.
Push on the gas pedal
Aaaand... release.
Press on the brake,
Ease yourself to a stop
And look at the grimaces people make.
I see your face
In the rear view mirror,
I see the dark sighs
Swelling behind your squinted eyes
Turning into poison
In the back of your mind.
I'm sorry I stopped you from getting through
The lighted intersection in front of us
But I was stuck behind two cars
And a public transportation bus,
I really didn't mean to cause a fuss
Or keep you from driving that half a block.
We all want to blame
All the problems in the world
On the driver of the car in front of you
During a traffic jam.
