Embrace Me
I remember
when you held my
hand for the first time.
My breath caught
in my lungs,
and my hands shook.
My eyes looked up
to meet yours,
and I was forever
mesmerized.
You told me
I was it,
you said I was yours.
Deep down,
I knew it was true.
Deep down,
I had to believe it was true.
My sanity rested upon
you.
I remember,
that night you witnessed
my deep, dark secret.
You looked me in the eyes,
lifted my chin to meet
your gaze,
and held me.
It felt so good to
be in your embrace.
We parted,
promises of phone calls,
of texts, of love
hung in the air.
Tears ran down my cheeks;
you wiped them away
and lifted my spirit.
I flew that day.
Life does not go on
when you are away
from who you love.
But, when you
are forever changed,
forgotten in the gutter
beside the street,
life just seems
to end.
when you held my
hand for the first time.
My breath caught
in my lungs,
and my hands shook.
My eyes looked up
to meet yours,
and I was forever
mesmerized.
You told me
I was it,
you said I was yours.
Deep down,
I knew it was true.
Deep down,
I had to believe it was true.
My sanity rested upon
you.
I remember,
that night you witnessed
my deep, dark secret.
You looked me in the eyes,
lifted my chin to meet
your gaze,
and held me.
It felt so good to
be in your embrace.
We parted,
promises of phone calls,
of texts, of love
hung in the air.
Tears ran down my cheeks;
you wiped them away
and lifted my spirit.
I flew that day.
Life does not go on
when you are away
from who you love.
But, when you
are forever changed,
forgotten in the gutter
beside the street,
life just seems
to end.
