The Magdalene
I want to be a sinner
Yet you make me a saint
I am scarlet, freshly opened
And yet you clothe me in white
I am wanton
Yet you paint me wifely
Untouchable
I touch myself
I am above you when
I should be beneath you
I desire nakedness
And you bring me raiment
I should be on my knees
Yet I walk beside you
In control
When you should demand submission
I am full, aching, turning in the wind
You give me everything and yet
You take nothing from me
That I truly wish to give
Yet you make me a saint
I am scarlet, freshly opened
And yet you clothe me in white
I am wanton
Yet you paint me wifely
Untouchable
I touch myself
I am above you when
I should be beneath you
I desire nakedness
And you bring me raiment
I should be on my knees
Yet I walk beside you
In control
When you should demand submission
I am full, aching, turning in the wind
You give me everything and yet
You take nothing from me
That I truly wish to give
