Breathless
She Brushes her hair and
Runs out of mousse so I
Send her diamonds for
Her Birthday
She tells me she can’t
Wait for February and I
Would give anything to Be
The one to zip up her ball gown
I can hear her laughter But
I can’t see her smile so
I send words flying Back and forth
With my fingers
She is totally into her life
Never thinks about the tears
She doesn’t have to bend or break
Because there is someone always there
To catch her
I reach out to touch an errant curl
And realize I only play with air
She lives so very far away and
I sit here praying she will change her mind
For my daughter Cathryn
