The Demon Inside

I live through the day,
I sleep through the night.
I haunt those who betray me,
I face those who confront me.
I do what it takes to cope with grief,
I never let the demon escape.
I need the demon inside,
He is my only friend.
As long as he is with me,
I can do anything.
If anything ever happens,
At least I still have the demon.
He keeps me alive,
He does me good.
If it weren’t for him,
I’d have died a long time ago.
