The Bitter Guest

There seated I
Amongst joyful ones
Embittered with red eyes
Nursing my pain alone

In my heart a turmoil
Like a violent tide
No other could envision
Not unless the bride

In a moment stare
We traveled back in time
We just weren't there
Everything backwards rewind

To times when we spoke
Of lovely dreams and all
But like a Puff of smoke
They vanished through the wall

So I was watching keenly
Just faking the smile
As another homie
Was taking what was mine

Bound in matrimony
I heard her say"I do"
It wasn't really funny
But it was nothing new

It has been pain all along
Since I got the invitation
I'd prayed to be strong
But now I was falling for my emotions

Struggling with myself
I managed to stay on my seat
After all the vows
Finally they kissed

It was my most humiliating experience
But it was my last respect
For someone I dearly loved
But what came next?

Couldn't go for the reception
Instead I rushed back home
Where I brought out our pictures
And then I wept alone

Before tearing them to shreds
I took one last look at us
Again a single tear fell
As I rose from the dust

I was broken
She was happy
So much unspoken
Words to carry

To that newly wedded bride
Have you found love?
You should be here by my side
But fortune has skipped my world

Thus farewell canary
My love was but a cage
Now you can fly freely
While I die enraged
