A Perfect World?

"Give peace a chance" I heard them say
the nations shouldn't war
It'd be great for a little while
but soon we'd all get bored

If poets didn't criticize
and people weren't ostracized
Then everyone would be the same
and no one would enjoy the game

There'd be no interesting sights to see
without all the diversity
The brilliant light of each new day
would be replaced with shades of gray

So I have learned to celebrate
all of the things I used to hate
I promote the things that I hold dear
and respect everything that I fear

The days would seem so meaningless
without the black of night
Our lives would end up meaning less
without the proper plight

So keep your mantras and your drugs
I think I'd rather pass
You're never going to save the world
by sitting on your ass

To your creator you create
you can always confide
But in the end, we're all the same
from truth you cannot hide
