The Usuals
I saw an old friend today
She was 10kg lighter and bent like a pocket knife
I went and talked to her to see how she’s doing
She answered with lowered eyes and a slow voice
I am fine I had a bit too much but it’s ok
You don’t look ok I thought
I am ok too I said
I knew that we were both lying
But it’s ok
It’s always ok
You try to give strength and hope
When you don’t have it yourself
It costs nothing
Except some more stains in your conscience
If there is any left
