I Used to Call You Lover
I used to call you lover,
And yet you’ve left me even so,
I cherished you like heaven,
And you cast me down below.
I used to call you beauty,
The way you set my heart ablaze,
You burnt it down to ashes,
And sent my mind into a daze.
Then I called you angel,
You graced me with your light,
I was never supposed to be in darkness,
But you brought eternal night.
Now I'm stuck here in the dark,
And you’ve stolen all my breath,
And I hope my dear that it is clear,
Why I now call you death.
And yet you’ve left me even so,
I cherished you like heaven,
And you cast me down below.
I used to call you beauty,
The way you set my heart ablaze,
You burnt it down to ashes,
And sent my mind into a daze.
Then I called you angel,
You graced me with your light,
I was never supposed to be in darkness,
But you brought eternal night.
Now I'm stuck here in the dark,
And you’ve stolen all my breath,
And I hope my dear that it is clear,
Why I now call you death.
