I Do Not Exist
I do not exist
I’m just a phantom in Black Watch plaid
Who sometimes whispers in the darkness
“Music When Soft Voices Die”
I have ceased all functions
Have no memories
Never give
Or receive
Perhaps you think
You have seen me
In actuality you have
Only seen through me
I’ve been laughing at you
All along
Chasing my shadow
Which isn’t there
Calling a name
Which was never mine
You can’t give out of emptiness
Can’t take from it either
Except a little bit more of what it takes
To fill you up
So you take and take and take but
I don’t care
It doesn’t hurt
I’m as nothing as the air around you
And mean just as much
