Outside is not for Outsiders

This is a dilemma for an outsider as no human can ever be contented with being on his/her own. Sadly,the reality of this poem cannot be overemphasized. Beautiful poem,I can relate well to it.

you know it seems to me people are getting
to be this way all over anymore
maybe its the way they are being brainwashed
there has to be a reason why
I see it in these little towns near me
its simply not the way it used to be
and that's a fact

Yes, you are so right. We often think of paranoid hermits as a rural thing.  But since I moved from a small town, to a big city, some four years ago. I was surprised at how many urban hermits there are.  I live in a brownstone in St. Paul where I'm the boiler operator.

In this 30 unit building their are no less than 4 people who virtually live in the shadows because of the fear of others.  It's very sad.

I know this blessing/affliction well. I used to believe this way, that my Outsideness was a reason to stay Inside. We don't always mix with normal society well, so it's an understandable reflex. But when I truly discovered the Great Outdoors, I found a whole new avenue to place my Outsideness. In my own opinion, in my own experience, it's best to get as far Outside as possible, beyond the fears & ignorances of those who would marginalize or mistreat you for being 'different'. I have found, Out in the wilderness, with only non-human life for a companion, that I am pretty fucking awesome company! Those who would see us Outsiders as 'inferior' or 'worthless' are the ones that are truly lost. They are the ones that miss out. Because we are just fine with ourselves & being on our own :) Sure we get lonely, but we are just fine being alone.

So my own advice to the Outsiders out there reading this....don't remain inside for too long. In fact, go as far as you can go. Not all places, including even here on the over-populated East Coast of America where I currently sit, are haunted by people. Eventually, the humans will run-out, & you'll be surrounded by glorious, humankind-free Nature. Those Outside spaces are out there, waiting for you to discover them...hence discovering much about yourselves.

You have great value, friends, no matter how those 'typical humans' treat or react to you.

Your very welcome.  And indeed your right.  We live in a society immersed in paranoia.  And one of the sadist aspects is the trend in 'urban hermits.'

I loved this. Wow. I live with agoraphobia, or so they say, I much rather think I just prefer to keep away from what I deem to be false, fake, hypocritical bullshit and the people that feed on it. I rarely leave my house other than appointments. I tend to agree that no one can be truely content alone, however, I'd rather that than be amongst society. I've spent my whole life feeling like the outsider, only as an adult have I been able to accept who I am instead of trying to fit myself into their lives. You captured that perfectly in this write, excellent!
