Piece By Piece

How can I hold together
When I keep losing pieces of me?
Are they lost forever?
Who shall I be?

Piece by piece they go missing
Forever left alone
With no one listening
Stuck in the wind, always blowing

What is left over
Is close to worthless
Pieces that are left, only hover
Over a body that has become heartless

Piece by piece I am giving up
Protecting the few pieces of my heart
Terrified of another break up
Will cause my heart to rot

Staying together is slowly becoming harder
Every day I let a little bit more go
And the gaps between the pieces become broader
But I still try to hold on though

Piece by piece I continue to hold on
Even though I know it isn't worth it
Because soon all of the pieces will be gone
Piece by piece, bit by bit
