High Maintenance

I don't want to be downer
but I think I'm done with these guys
saying they want to get to know me
when they just mean in-between my thighs

How about don't buy me that drink?
& keep your lines in your head
I didn't fall from heaven
just to land in your bed

I'm not being high maintenance  
just because I'm saying this
I think you've gone to your head
& just because you're wanting this
does not mean you're getting this
I'm taking off my bad girl patch
I'm resigning from the club
I'm done with the shenanigans
& I'm looking for love.

I've never been traditional
but I'm tired of the parade
my heart's been feeling beaten
& that's something I won't take

I like getting dressed up
I like the power of the chase
I even like them taking me home
but it has a bitter aftertaste

When no one makes breakfast
or prolongs staying in bed
it's all casual & businesslike
getting out as fast as I can
