The Adult     (SEMI-FILLER)

A slow clean creature settled on tidy beaches before the sunset...
Sticks and stones and strings fenced marvelously around it...

This is your big chance
It's all planed out

No one will kill you
You won’t die today

If you’re sick, take a pill

Tell them about it
Because they will ask

Play it safe these days
Keep it going with words

So we don’t think those wrong things
That make our bodies change too quickly
In the longer, slower hours...

No more lumbering through amber halls
In the night with poison and strangers...
No more implying lights and twisting walls,
Floors and stairs leading to the darker rooms...

Body hurts too often
Home is the law

Somebody will say something
Must listen politely then
Or no one will talk at all

Or mention how to heal
This mysterious illness

Something must happen in this world
But probably tomorrow, or next year

You know they’re wrong
But we are all one
It is not polite

You have the answer
But you'll wait for someone else
Then add that you thought of it too

No sense in being harsh with yourself
Time to improve, not impress!

This is your big chance
You lived a life too

"Wow, it’s like I never knew..."

You did that
Tell them about it

Keep the conversation going
If you’re with three people
Then you’re a group of four

You are aware now
You make choices now

You are in control
You want her to notice that

And to the adult, the Infinite is just another conversation...
