Originality

What is there for me to say,
that has not already been said before.
By other poets in a variety of ways.
For if you are to really think of it
everything worth saying has already been said.
Nothing you could come up with
would be an original thought.
For all of our thoughts and actions
are merely by products of the ones
who have come before us.
We are what has come before us
and nothing more than that.
We are raised to believe that
we are each are own person,
but that is an outright lie.
What we call our “individuality”
is merely a combination of
all of the people that have come before us.
Everything we do comes from what
some other person did before us,
down to the very words we speak each and every day.
Nothing in our mannerisms is original,
for none of us are truly original.
