Oh water fills the belly
So cow can make the milk
Oh water fills the belly
So snake can make the bane
And barnyards and brothels
Bear paupers and princes
Breed babies in water
Bare children in slaughter
Wrote wholy good news
To make holy fools
Of us all
So cow can make the milk
Oh water fills the belly
So snake can make the bane
And barnyards and brothels
Bear paupers and princes
Breed babies in water
Bare children in slaughter
Wrote wholy good news
To make holy fools
Of us all

Water, the primary substance. Can't help think of the religious tone in the last 3 lines, and the man baptised, he who walked on water and turned it into wine...
Whale, I enjoyed your words so much that I poured a glass of red and twice read your poem out aloud. Great to see your poetry hanging from the green walls again, sir.

I enjoy the simplicity of your words. The ending's a great summary. Yery good poem.

Where life begins and where life ends.
good to have you back Whale, you always come back with some wisdom to lighten the dark halls of Du.

Hi. I loved this write. For me water, was a metaphor for life in your write. Than when it was realized it was a necessity, the snake, greed, turned delivering the need into a monopoly.
