some people feel the rain. others just get wet.
in that wonderland adolescence, did you ever glimpse, unexpectedly, the depth of perfection held within a single moment? so delicate and impermanent, petrified that the smallest movement, leaves rustling in the wind could destroy it, and alas you would never be there again. have you ever been aware of those moments as they unfurled, like deja vu and memories and dreaming all intertwined in their eyes, in the creases of their arms, elapsed inside a simple truth, the beautiful terror of knowing you will never return. why do we seek out such moments? why do we long to articulate what silence says best? the penetration, the sight, the strength of what is felt fills up an entire sky with moonbeams and stars, even if it cannot fill our mouths with one single word of conviction. in that wonderland adolescence, all my best moments an imaginary time lapse, an imprint of intention, a patiently pondered acceptance that destruction is inevitable. when i felt them speaking out beyond their words, was it simply a game i played by myself? or were the sun dials lit in them too, cascading shadows at just the right spot to say, it is finally time. a rather banal existence, to live only in accordance with what has been said. i'll take my chances. i'll play my games. i'll continue collecting the words and letters our hearts hear, but lips never knew.
