(working title only) Killing Your Own (added 03 Mar 2015 5:56 a.m.)
I wanted to scream out from the realization of what had happened and from the amount of pain I was in, but my windpipe was crushed from the weight of Sterns arm having been pressed against it for so long. I actually wasn't sure how much time had passed either. I looked up at Stern, with pleading eyes, as he still stood over me, his eyes glazed and fixed on me. Yet I could tell that it wasn't me he was seeing. Before I knew what was happening, I saw a flash and heard a loud bang, when it hit me that Stern Justice just shot himself in the head. I watched in slow motion as his body fell to the ground next to where I still lay. Suddenly, I found my voice and screamed louder than I had even screamed in my life before.
I must have passed out again for the next thing I was aware of was that I was no longer in the woods and this place was far from dark. In fact, the lights were so blinding, it took me moments before I realized that I was in a hospital or some type of medical facility. I heard the beeping noises of equipment, felt the line from the I.V. needle inserted in my arm, smelled the clean, sterile smells. Suddenly a smiling face was standing over me and told a doctor that I was awake. I was asked if I knew where I was and again I found myself without a voice. The doctor just said, "Relax, you're safe now. We'll take care of you." My eyes must have plead for more because he added, "Your Dad is waiting to see you. Should I send him in?" I shook my head yes with all the vigor my battered body would allow.
