to be a mother
Life had lost it's
Hold on me
Or maybe I just let go
Raindrops no longer
Lulled me to sleep
With my pen and pad in hand
I didn't care for musing anymore
in a matter of weeks
Unknown to me
I would hear the melody
That changed my life
The rhythm almost too steady
Yet erratic all at once
My life began that day
In the tear washed sound
Of those little thumps
To me it was a sing song
Promise of forever
And I count the days
Until I can count your toes
Thank the skies for each
Day that you're okay
And hold on to every moment
That brings me closer to you
My true love my whole life
My meaning and my reason
I no longer want to let go
Rather I'd never die
Only to hear your every first
Your every heart ache
Your every question
And I'll live to see
Wonder in your eyes as you
Learn the world with your soul
As I once did
Never once forgetting to always
Ask why. How I yearn for your whys
And hope that I have all the right answers...
