Nightfall

The darkness came swooping in all at once,
as if it had been there for years.
Blanketing the city whose light argued with the stars.
Hiding in the clouds the moons pale cool light danced within the country side.
Haunting it with angry winds that echoed against the mountains,
sounding like a cannon exploding expelling shrapnel against the trees.
Cascading in the distance dawn breaks first light.
As if all at once the world turns to warm and bright.
