Not Any More
I used to be afraid off:
Great big hands, not for claps
Just for nips, punches, pokes and slaps
The leather belt to beat my back
The zip, the whip the stinging thwack
The scream and shout, the point and stare
The strangled throat, the gasp for air
Knees that kneed, Feet that kicked
Abuse dressed up as “being strict”
Thrown about, pushed around,
Dragged, screaming on the ground
Arms and shoulders crush and shrug
Never really learned to hug
Kissed only by a hand in glove
And never ever shown love
No longer scared of big bad Jim
I’m scary now and bigger than him
Great big hands, not for claps
Just for nips, punches, pokes and slaps
The leather belt to beat my back
The zip, the whip the stinging thwack
The scream and shout, the point and stare
The strangled throat, the gasp for air
Knees that kneed, Feet that kicked
Abuse dressed up as “being strict”
Thrown about, pushed around,
Dragged, screaming on the ground
Arms and shoulders crush and shrug
Never really learned to hug
Kissed only by a hand in glove
And never ever shown love
No longer scared of big bad Jim
I’m scary now and bigger than him
