Back and forth

I call you gray; right on the line
I call you shade; fade with time
Never know what day the sun will shine
Chasing raes but you know you'll cave

I call you broke; say what you hope
Claiming change but you know you'll choke
Say your name like blowing smoke
Craving flames but burning low

Back and forth
Two sides to every coin
Pull me in and flip again
Luck wears thin and chances end
Don't say you'll stay then walk away

I call you waves; a little insane
Crashing short off shore but wanting more
same thing comes around the same way
Rise and fall but never touch the ground

I call you rope; ties that bind
Around my throat; I can't unwind
Stretched for miles around my mind
Hanging high and holding tight
