I opened my eyes today
Phew! How lucky am I...
to be able to do this,
I can breathe
Some others couldn’t
Because of what’s going on right now
In this so called corrupt society
Police ....yes Police.... brutality
Yes, I said it,
It’s prevalent in society
History shows its ugly head once again
But in a different form
Targeting what they deemed is the minority
I can’t breathe
I ask this question before
Why should you judge a person by the colour of his/her skin?
No one is left out
They target women, men, and children
When will it ever end?
I can’t breathe
Eric Garner, despite stating the facts
Was murdered by police Thugs
Wrestled to the ground
Although he never put up a fight
He was treated worse than an animal.
Even in Full contact Combat
A throat hold is released
I can’t breathe
But NO! Not the police,
They continued ... making sure until he was deceased
I can’t breathe
Did (Eric Garner’s) made up crime fit the consequence.
Why is it that the law (The Police) always have to be right?
To take matters into their hands
They always believe they have it right
WRONG.............
I can’t breathe
Having a badge doesn’t cut it at all
You behave like pussies
Hiding behind the law
Harassing, belittling, targeting
Does colour matter for you to carry out your code?

You took their future,
You took their lives, from their families and friends
Who made you God?
There was a beginning you put the end
The end to many lives..........
Lives that can never be restored
I can’t breathe
We think things can be different
But honestly they remain the same
Really!  what do we expect?
We say we have freedom
“Fuck”, we ain’t see that yet
Situations daily arising
Police brutalising
We have black on black crimes
White on black crimes
white on white crimes
Latino's , Asians
so much discrimination
I really don’t understand this shit

What really holds us people back?
What is actually troubling us as humans?
We seem to take two steps forward and six steps backward
Yet we believe we are going forward
But rethink
I can’t breathe
For we are not going anywhere
But being stuck within our own minds
We fight for Justice, truth and freedom
But everyday it’s the same again and again and again
What have we done?
What exactly did we do wrong?
I am so afraid to walk the streets
For FEAR that the Police would abuse or shoot me
I thought they took an oath to actually protect and serve
So it seems we are missing the whole picture.
Because in this day and age
They are still thinking
They are giving us what we deserve...

Just to name a few
Fought hard
But for what
Nothing much has change
Because I.. Still ...Can’t....BREATHE....
