Bystander
You dropped dead
Before my eyes
Your smile faded
Your bright eyes cracked
Your happy frame
Wilted into dust
And I only watched
As your demise unfolded
Right before me
I did nothing
Only watched
I saw you tumble
I saw your fall
I saw as the person I once knew
Just wasn't there at all
It seemed to me
Like you'd changed in an instant
A painful heartbeat
But inside I know
I watched your colors run
For time on end
But I stood frozen
Convinced that I could do nothing
Watched you fade
Saw your tears
Heard you scream
But I let you go...
Before my eyes
Your smile faded
Your bright eyes cracked
Your happy frame
Wilted into dust
And I only watched
As your demise unfolded
Right before me
I did nothing
Only watched
I saw you tumble
I saw your fall
I saw as the person I once knew
Just wasn't there at all
It seemed to me
Like you'd changed in an instant
A painful heartbeat
But inside I know
I watched your colors run
For time on end
But I stood frozen
Convinced that I could do nothing
Watched you fade
Saw your tears
Heard you scream
But I let you go...
