Polar Bear (the pilot light on the water heater blew out again)
A sudden chill runs up my spine
as fleshy goosebumps meet melted snow
that somehow ended up in my bath tub.
The flickering flame licking the vessel hot
had been tickled to sleep by a breeze
through a crack in the wall
of the secret room under the stairs,
and this hairy, pale white polar bear
shivers deeply as glacial oceans wash over delicate senses
and very important appendages, frustrated and freezing
furiously cower, forcefully attempting to retreat inside.
