The World i know (Black Diamond)(back story)

in the world of the black diamond technology has advanced to the point somewhere between 3d printers and star treks replicators
only craftsmen make things from scratch, actual cloth is rare. and all the more prized for it
most clothing is printed from licenses that are sold to individuals and belong to them until death or their families until the purchaser's death plus twenty years
most of the family members do not own a closet, they dispose of an outfit the night before and the raw materials that made it are formed in the morning to the same
outfit or something totally different. (that is one explanation for why i don’t talk about clothes much... )
the "Diamonds" are formed crystal from real silicates and nanites...
durable, intelligent, loyal to the family that purchases them,
they can be lied to only in certain ways,
lying about ones age to a machine is considered a rite of passage...
the debilitating effects of alcohol and drugs are flushed after 24 hours, and the family membership of those that absolutely must exist in a fog is put in jeopardy
pending psychological review to see if there are any root daemons that the individual needs to fix.
lying to a machine about one’s age is a rite of passage, so if the teen is able to carry it off, and get their gem to declare an older age, then the spoils are
allowable (this is also why most drinking establishments in the archology are manned by machines.)
once intoxication is reached at any age, security comes and sweeps you up off the floor and carries you home.... and shakes any one that has the temerity to attempt
to take advantage of one of their spouses in a less than competent state... (and if the would be "date rapist" is *not* part of the family, they rapidly rendered...
no longer an issue)
lying to a machine is one thing...
lying to a person is another...
especially if that person's gem encounters skin outside of acceptable age range for that person...
There are no free loaders in the family, every one contributes in some way.
the most indolent sybarites contribute significantly to the morale of the spouses that they "encounter"
there are even uses for the mad (where else does poetry come from but the mind of the mad?), the halt and the lame (Vulcan, god of forges was lame).
