A Piece Of Me

Born in a world that hated her from the start
Not because she was poor or ill at heart
different or the same
but because of her incandescent frame
A world of transition
lead by ignorance
plastered her irrelevant
as the acts before they all were born
A family mixture loved all the same
did little to protect the socially disdain
Beaten and bullied
sacrificed and sullied
Still went home quiet
Fighting and lying
Raped and crying
Began the story
of the soul tattered and sore
Screaming for answers to questions
that has bewildered scholars around the nation
Begging for help in any direction
but turned down in to damnation
All because she was born

Her life's facial
is now subject to public appraisal
The ignorant minds of the youth
became reality's spoof
when she rose independently
and embraced her diversity
Revealed her scars
and released denial in her heart
Left the fear behind
and pushed toward the front of the line
Standing proud
and screaming ever so loud
I NO LONGER WILL BE DAMMED
BECAUSE I AM ONLY HUMAN!
