Breakfast in Bed
Will you be my prince of slumber
As I wake to my Kingdom Bed?
Piled sheets, a castle tower,
Up and away, I wait for the dead.
They will rise like the eerie morning
And they will sleep with untimely dread
Down the hall, under the covers,
Lies awake my temperament unfed.
The beast be locked in the closet dungeon,
Beneath the mattress, its doom does spread,
But here atop the dream-thread blanket,
I am safe, safe from my dead.
So if I asked you to my chambers,
And with a succubi kiss, I sweetly said,
“Will you be my prince of slumber
As I wake to my kingdom bed?”
(Slithering between yawning yeses:
Dead
Dead
Dead)
