Birthday wishes
I don't want a wild party.
At such a young age,
turning eighteen in a few days,
I guess it's almost expected of me.
I don't want a wild party.
I want to be given a pair of hiking boots,
a key to a small cottage,
paper and pen,
and liberty to roam around a vast forest.
I want to be able to have space to think freely,
live freely,
yet, not recklessly.
Freedom at youth does not mean
a fast track to perdition.
Freedom for me is being able to go somewhere
where the sounds of nature are my
music.
I want a few weeks,
just me and maybe another person more.
Someone who I can talk about the deepest aspects of life
my wishes, my desires, my dreams and aspirations,
and nothing more.
I want to sit in this cottage,
and write on the beauty I see around me.
I want to have him hold my hand in silence
and we could just walk down the forest,
just once more.
What I wouldn't do,
just for this to come true,
these birthday wishes...
