Rebirth
Rebirth
I stand in front of the mirror,
ashamed of the person staring back at me.
Emotionless ...
Are her eyes,
just as empty as her soul.
The expression on her face shows defeat.
I'd be surprised if it were any other way.
Who would want to feel her pain?
Experience her losses?
Channel her thoughts?
Her mind ...
The mind of a lost soul,
wandering aimlessly.
So much potential,
so much talent ...
Just put to waste.
Because the high was better than reality ...
Drugs made her numb and she preferred it that way.
There she could let loose and be free.
No worries ...
No stress.
Why go back to all the madness when she had found a way to escape?
A perfect getaway.
There ...
She had everything she every wanted
but what she was most thankful for ...
Was him.
The one thing that brought her happiness,
the one thing that brought youth to her soul,
the only person that made her feel truly alive.
Love ...
One syllable.
One word.
Too small to have so much meaning.
But with him by her side she found the TRUE meaning.
Unconditional, was her love for him ...
And when she fell,
She fell hard.
Their love was flourishing one minute
and lost the next.
He brought light to her life
just to take it away.
Not only was their relationship falling apart ...
As was she.
Without him the world was dark ...
Nothing made sense.
She fought all her might to make him love her like he once did
But little did she know ...
Love didn't work that way.
For years she straggled behind him ...
Pushing through the storm,
only to receive comfort from his dust.
Disappointment.
Broken promises.
Deceit.
Resentment.
Hate.
Added up to a broken heart.
He was the cause of her destruction.
And once she was gone he'd realized what he had lost ...
But it was too late.
All that was left of her was a hollow shell.
Nothing to lose,
nothing to gain.
She became reckless.
The only thing she desired was the drug.
Nothing could compare.
That moment she found a new meaning for love ...
Satisfaction.
She ran through guy to guy,
drug to drug,
house to house...
Still no satisfaction.
Life was unbearable.
She was helpless.
Heartless.
Cold.
But she didn't give up...
She stayed patient and hopefull
Giving life a chance.
She gave herself another chance.
And with time she realized she was worth something and she found someone who was worth loving...
She raised her head, to find herself exactly where she was supposed to be.
