Lost Soul

Bleary eyes open up to
A ghastly vision
Of a marred landscape
Cold, bleak, desolate...

Strangely familiar landmarks
Dot this grim setting
This isn't the first time
I have paid a visit

Right there is the sea of apathy
Where I learned how to swim, careless
In the distance I can see the well of mistrust
Where I drank until my thirst was satiated

Sitting behind barricades
I wonder how I got here once again
To my back, there is a house
So pretty, but so alone

I remember
I built this place brick by brick
Made those walls high enough
So that no one would even think about climbing

Oh god, what was I thinking?
Looking at mirrors with loathing
A haunted soul, this world
Is inhabited only by
My demons and ghosts

Closets full of skeletons
Self portraits full of accusation
I made this place, I designed every crook & cranny
Driven here by pain, a broken heart and a dash of insanity

Trapped

How..do...I...escape?
