Hibernation

The natural process
for the big old bear
is to eat away his troubles
to store up energy
to lay down in a dark hole
and close his eyes until
it all goes away.
So I ordered two pizzas,
pulled out my extra blankets,
and blind folded the windows
to block out the gray sky.
I am yawning deep,
sucking in the cold air
until my eyes won't open again
then I'll sleep until
I can no longer
and pretend that this is normal
because you can find
the behavior
in nature.
