Ode To The Eyes
The eyes can be the window to the soul
Capturing vivid images so true
Blinding oneself from the beauty of the world
They can be any color brown, green, and blue
They’re marbles set into almond spaces in faces
Set to fit your personality traits
The eyes can create a river of tears
That go through seasons of currents of fear
Small crystals of feelings for those, so dear,
Yet can stand out with love, a polished mirror
Erase reality try to move on
Cool, contemplating ivory set with stone
For some the world’s color is black and white
The eyes still show them the mural of life.
To others, still, the world is darkness
Their inner eye helps with this blindness.
In the end, the eyes are just used to see
Never truly seeing what we can be.
* Just to let everyone know, I’m not the sole writer of this poem.
Two of my friends and I wrote this for our English class
and I just thought that it would be cool to share it.
